Exam Pattern & Syllabus

CUET UG 2026 consists of three sections:

(A) Language Test (33 Languages)

·         Question Type: Reading comprehension, literary aptitude, vocabulary

·         Duration: 45 minutes

·         No. of Questions: 50 (40 to be attempted)

(B) Domain-Specific Subjects (27 Subjects)

CUET UG 2026: Education Qualification

To be eligible for undergraduate programs in Central Universities through CUET UG, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1.   General Eligibility:

·  Students must have completed or be appearing for their Class 12 board exams from a recognized board.

·     The minimum percentage required varies by category and university.

2.   Minimum Percentage Required:

·         General category: 50% in Class 12

·         SC/ST candidates: 45% in Class 12

·         B.Tech programs:

§  General category: 45% aggregate

§  Reserved category: 40% aggregate

3. Additional Requirements:

· Some universities may have specific subject combinations required for certain courses.

Number of Attempts for CUET UG 2026

·   No limit on the number of attempts for CUET UG.

·   Candidates can take the CUET UG exam multiple times as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

·     Educational qualifications and other eligibility conditions must be met for each attempt.

CUET UG 2026: Nationality Criteria

To be eligible for CUET UG 2026, candidates must belong to one of the following categories:

1.   Indian Nationals.

2.   Foreign Nationals from specific countries:

·  Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam (with permanent residency in India).

3.   Tibetan Refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling permanently.

4.   Citizens of Nepal or Bhutan.

CUET UG 2026 Registration Fees

Candidates applying for CUET UG 2026 should note that the registration fee is based on the number of subjects selected. The details of the CUET UG registration fee are as follows:

For candidates selecting exam centers outside India, the fees for all categories are:

·         Rs. 4500/- (Up to 3 subjects)

·         Rs. 1800/- per additional subject

Candidates belonging to the State List OBC, who do not fall under the OBC-NCL (Central List), should select the General/Unreserved category while applying.

Candidates who wish to register for CUET UG 2026 can follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Navigate to the official website exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG.

Step 2:

On the homepage, click on the Registration link.

Step 3:

Fill in all the required details, including:

·         Personal Details: Candidate’s Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, and Email ID.

·         Present and Permanent Address

Step 4:

Select a security question and enter the answer.

Step 5:

Create a unique and strong password.

Step 6:

Click on the “Submit” button. An OTP will be sent to the registered email address.

Step 7:

Enter the OTP. Once verified, an application number will be generated and displayed on the screen. Note it down for future reference.

Registered applicants can log in directly on CUET UG’s official website using their credentials.

Step 8:

To log in using the generated application number and password, return to the official website after completing registration.

Fill in the CUET UG 2025 Application Form, including:

Step 10:

Scan and upload the required images/documents.

Scanning and Uploading of Images/Documents for CUET UG 2026 Registration

Candidates need to scan and upload their Passport Size Photograph, Signature, and PwD Certificate (if applicable). Below are the file format and size requirements:

·         All images must be in JPG/JPEG format.

File Size:

·         Photograph: 10KB to 200KB

·         Signature: 4KB to 30KB

The photograph must be recently clicked, in either black & white or color, with a white background. The face should cover at least 80% of the image.

CUET UG Registration 2026: Correction Window

NTA will open a correction window for candidates who need to modify any details in their application form. This window is expected to be available once, in the last week of March 2025.

CUET UG Registration 2026: Key Points to Consider

·   Do not upload incorrect documents: Candidates must ensure they do not upload an incorrect photograph, signature, or other documents. Also, appearing at the exam center with an admit card tampered with another person’s details will lead to strict action against the candidate.

·    Enter authentic information: All details must be accurate and truthful to avoid any complications in the future.

·    Three-step process: The CUET UG registration, application form submission, and fee payment can be completed either simultaneously or separately at different times.

CUET 2025 Exam Pattern – Highlights

The CUET UG 2026 exam pattern has been updated. UGC Chairperson Amidala Jagadesh Kumar announced that the exam will undergo changes in terms of duration, mode of examination, and the number of subjects. The exam will return to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. CUET UG will consist of three sections: Section 1 will include 13 languages, Section 2 will cover 23 domain subjects, and Section 3 will be a General Test. Candidates will be allowed to choose up to five subjects, reduced from six. Students can select any CUET subject, regardless of what they studied in class 12th. Preparation for CUET UG can be done alongside board exams.

The CUET 2026 exam date will be announced soon, with expectations that it will take place in May or June 2026. The CUET UG 2026 exam will be divided into three sections, featuring objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The question paper will be available in English and 12 regional languages selected by candidates. Each question will be worth five marks, with a penalty of one mark for incorrect answers.

What's New in CUET Exam Pattern?

·    Students will be allowed to appear for CUET UG subjects irrespective of subject studied in class 12th

·     CUET UG will now be held in CBT mode only

·     CUET will be conducted for 37 subjects (23 subjects, 13 languages, general test) instead of 63 subjects

·         CUET subjects will have a uniform duration of 60 minutes

CUET UG Marking Scheme

Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

CUET UG 2026 Answer Key Date

NTA will release the CUET final answer key 2026 in the second week of June 2026 (tentatively) on the official website: exams.nta.ac.in. After evaluating all the objections raised against the provisional answer key, the CUET final answer key will be published.

CUET Result 2026 Date

Candidates who appeared for the CUET 2026 entrance exam can check their CUET result on the official CUET website. NTA will announce the CUET result in June 2026.
