The
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) organizes the Orientation Course for
Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) and the DAE Graduate
Fellowship Scheme (DGFS) every year. These programs are designed to recruit
Scientific Officers across various fields within the Department of Atomic
Energy (DAE), Government of India. The OCES/DGFS-2026 training initiatives
provide exceptional career prospects in nuclear science, engineering, and
research. After successful completion, candidates are placed as Scientific
Officers "C" in various DAE departments or the Atomic Energy
Regulatory Board (AERB).

BARC offers two major training programs:
1. Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES)

Duration: 1 Year
·
Location: Conducted at BARC
Training Schools in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
·
Training Outcome: Upon successful
completion, candidates are appointed as Scientific Officers “C” in DAE
units.
·
Duration: 2 Years
·
Eligibility: Candidates who
secure admission to M.Tech. in select IITs/NITs.
·
Stipend: Includes tuition fee
reimbursement and project-related financial support.
·
Placement: On completion,
candidates join BARC (Mumbai) or IGCAR (Kalpakkam).
Both programs provide attractive
career progression opportunities in nuclear science, research reactors,
accelerators, and nuclear fuel cycle technologies.
BARC provides competitive salaries and benefits to
Trainee Scientific Officers (TSOs) and DGFS Fellows.

Stipend: ₹ 74,000
per month.
·
Book Allowance: ₹ 30,000
(OCES) / Contingency Grant of ₹ 60,000 per year (DGFS).
·
Accommodation: Mandatory
in DAE or DGFS institute hostels.
· Basic Pay: ₹ 56,100
per month (7th CPC Pay Level 10).
· Total Monthly Emoluments (Including Allowances): ₹
1,34,000/- (Approx.).
· Additional Benefits:
Performance-related incentives, professional update allowance, health
insurance, LTC, and PRIS bonuses.
The
selection for OCES/DGFS-2025 is a two-step process:
Candidates can be shortlisted for interviews through any of the three methods:
1. Online Examination:
·
Conducted in March 2025 across
multiple cities.
·
Subjects include Engineering & Science
disciplines.
· Candidates receive a BARC Online Exam Score.
2. GATE Score Screening:
·
Candidates with valid GATE-2023,
GATE-2024, or GATE-2025 scores can apply.
· Highest score among the three years will be considered.
3. CEBS/NISER CGPA Score:
·
M.Sc. graduates from CEBS (Mumbai) &
NISER (Bhubaneswar) with CGPA ≥ 7.5 can apply.
· Mode: Conducted
in Mumbai (for all disciplines except Geology) & Hyderabad (for Geology).
· Period: May –
June 2025.
· Reimbursement:
Outstation candidates receive AC-III Tier train fare.
·
Based solely on performance in the
Selection Interview.
·
The final provisional selection list
will be displayed in June 2025.
BARC OCES 2025 Overview
The
Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), located in Trombay, Mumbai, Maharashtra,
is India's leading nuclear research institute. It is currently inviting
applications for the Orientation Course for Engineers and Scientists (OCES).
Before applying for the BARC OCES 2026 exam, candidates must ensure they meet
the eligibility requirements.
Selection
for the Trainee Scientific Officer position at BARC will be based entirely on
the candidate's performance in the BARC exam and personal interview. The upper
age limit is 26 years, with a relaxation of up to 31 years depending on the
candidate’s category. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the BARC
OCES exam 2026.
Candidates must have completed a B.E./B.Tech., B.Sc. (Engineering), or a 5-year Integrated M.Tech. with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
Candidates
must have a B.E./B.Tech., M.Sc., or Integrated M.Tech. degree with at least 60%
marks (or a 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale). The following Engineering
disciplines are eligible for the BARC OCES application:

BARC OCES 2026 Important Dates

OCES 2026 Application Form
The BARC OCES 2026 Application Form has been officially launched. Candidates can submit their applications online from 22 December 2025 to 21 January 2026. If any modifications are required, a correction window will be open from 7th to 14th February 2025. To apply, simply click on the provided link and complete the application process. Ensure that you submit your application before the deadline to prevent any complications.
Steps to Apply for BARC OCES 2026 Exam
Candidates
wishing to apply for the BARC OCES 2026 exam can follow the step-by-step
instructions below to complete their application. Make sure to accurately fill
in all details and upload the necessary documents before submitting the form.
Step 1 - Register Online:
Go to the application page and click on the "New Registration"
link. Enter your basic details like name, gender, mobile number, email ID, OCES
discipline, and qualifying degree.
Step 2 - Verify Contact Details:
After registering, verify your mobile number and email ID using the OTP and
activation link sent to your contacts.
Step 3 - Login to Fill Form:
Once your registration is confirmed, log in using the details sent to your
email and mobile number. Fill in the application form online.
Step 4 - Upload Documents:
Upload your recent passport-sized photo (4.5x3.5 cm) and signature (2x4.5 cm)
in JPG/JPEG format.
Step 5 - Fill Marks and Details:
Enter your marks from SSC/HSC/B.Sc./BE/B.Tech/M.Sc. in the application form.
Step 6 - Choose Screening Option:
Select
a screening channel (CBT or GATE score) and pick three preferred exam cities if
opting for online examination.
Step 7 - GATE Scores (If Applicable):
If
you're using GATE-2023/2024 scores, upload your scorecard during application.
For GATE-2025, wait for results before uploading your score.
Step 8 - Provide Valid Documents:
If
you’re eligible for fee exemptions, upload your supporting documents like ID
cards or certificates.
Step 9 - Review the Application:
Once
all information is filled, preview the form. Make any necessary corrections
before submitting.
Step 10 - Final Submission:
After
reviewing, click on "Submit" to finalize your application. No changes
can be made after submission.
Step 11 - Pay Application Fee (If Applicable):
If required, pay the application fee (₹500) online using debit/credit card, net
banking, or SBI payment gateway.
Step 12 - Receive Registration Number:
After payment, you will get a unique Registration Number. Keep it safe for
future reference.
